“Journey Based” or “Multi Day” activities and are considered to be the ultimate outdoor education experience.

Through group teamwork students have to meet basic needs of food, water and shelter to enable the whole group to complete the journey. A journey often uses a combination of different modes of transport to get from point A to point B, such as walk, mountain bike, canoe or raft. When finally reaching the finishing destination a sense of achievement is gained.

Group sizes are relatively small, 10-15 students, in a bid to create a small community feeling and allow all students to experience leadership.

Food is an important part of any journey, and making sure there is sufficient high quality nutritious food is something that we here at Halls Outdoor are extremely proud of achieving.

Remote School Camp Program

We often receive compliments on our catering and we work hard to keep it this way, ensuring that wherever possible the specialised dietary requirements of the individual are met.

Equipment is also vital in ensuring that the journey can be undertaken in safety and comfort, and we only use the best quality equipment on all of our activities so as to provide your students and staff with a wonderful outdoor experience.

Each group is accompanied by one of our highly qualified Halls Outdoor Education team members and a school staff member, ensuring that our role to see that educational aims are met in a safe and supportive manner, whilst the school staff looks after student welfare and generally gets to see the students in a different setting.

Safety is paramount to the team at Halls, and as a consequence we are assisted via a complex communications system comprising at times hand held UHF’s, mobile phones, satellite navigation phones with a mobile base or our main base, always with a 24 hour contact point.

All our staff are wilderness first aid trained and have all completed a comprehensive risk management course coupled with qualifications in general outdoor education and where necessary in the specific activity disciplines.

No expense is spared when it comes to the safety of your students, your staff and our team.
